About Wisconsin

Wisconsin is heaven on earth for thousands of RVers who journey to all corners of the state in the summertime. Almost all of Wisconsin can be explored, and there are plenty of RV parks throughout the state’s many different regions.

Southwestern Wisconsin RV Parks

The Driftless Area of Southwestern Wisconsin doesn’t see nearly as many visitors as the rest of the state does, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t check it out yourself. These rolling forested hills hide rivers teeming with fish, and there are lots of welcoming small towns to pass through and even explore a bit. Check out Yellowstone Lake State Park and Wildlife Area, Governor Dodge State Park, Blackhawk Lake Recreation Area, Wildcat Mountain State Park, and Kickapoo Valley Reserve State Natural Area.

Follow Route 60 as it runs parallel to the Wisconsin River, which flows into South Bluff and Devil’s Nose State Natural Areas near the center of the state. Devil’s Lake State Park is one of the most popular spots for RV camping in the region, and it’s midway between most of Wisconsin’s major cities. Nearby Wisconsin Dells bills itself as the waterpark capitol of the world, with some indoor water parks that are open year-round.

RV Parks Near Milwaukee and Green Bay Wisconsin

Interstates 41 and 43 run between Milwaukee and Green Bay, and pass near some of Wisconsin’s finest RV resorts and campgrounds. The Horicon National Wildlife Refuge, Marsh State Wildlife Area, and Theresa Marsh State Wildlife Area offer unfettered access to quintessential rural Wisconsin wilderness. The towns of Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, and Appleton surround Lake Winnebago, a go-to day and weekend trip for folks from throughout the southeastern corner of the state. About an hour north of Green Bay, Peninsula State Park is a bit out of the way, but well worth the drive for folks looking for an area that combines coastal attractions with extensive resorts and countless points of interest and amenities, including a drive-in movie theater and golf course to go along with the miles of stunning hike and bike trails.

Northern Wisconsin RV Parks

Wisconsin isn’t exactly mountainous, and the northern part of the state is free from hairpin turns and difficult roadways. Just a couple hours north of Green Bay, Wausau, and Eau Claire are thousands of square miles of wilderness. The northern half of Wisconsin is popular among RVers who desire the vast expanse of forests and lakes without all the urban features that the popular southern destinations possess.

Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest is more than 1.5 million acres of protected wilderness that is easily navigable with your RV in-tow. To the south is the neighboring Flambeau River State Forest, and to the north is Copper Falls State Park. Keep motoring north to Lake Superior and you’ll reach Big Bay State Park, Apostile Island National Lakeshore, and Brule River State Forest, which is only a short drive away from Duluth.

The entire state of Wisconsin is dotted with diverse RV campgrounds. And the surrounding natural elements are sure to enchant you.
