Seattle is the largest city in Washington and is the fastest growing city in the United States. Attractions

A solid mix of outdoor and indoor attractions, Seattle sees hundreds of thousands of campers and visitors each year. For the urban adventurers, there's no shortage of excellent things to experience, see and taste during your trip. Pike Place Market is a popular spot among travelers and locals alike. Open year-round, there’s so much to love about the market: aisles of fresh fruits and vegetables, tables overflowing with floral bouquets, and booth after booth selling excellent, locally made jewelry, clothing and gifts. A number of resident eateries offer prepared dishes, and there's also opportunities to taste everything on one of several market tours that focus on food, history, or a little of both. The Seattle Art Museum is certainly a treasure within the city, featuring an excellent permanent collection as well as traveling exhibits. When you head there, keep an eye out for the Native & Meso-American collection with works by the area’s original inhabitants, as well as contemporary works by Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol and even Asian pieces dating back to the second century. There, patrons can catch Broadway shows at the historic Paramount or 5th Avenue Theatres as well as performances at the unique Teatro ZinZanni. Outdoor Recreation

Travelers can look forward to the area's national parks like the North Cascades National Park, the world-famous Mount Rainier National Park and the Olympic National Park as well as numerous opportunities for leisurely strolls or vigorous hikes. Discovery Park covers 534-acres in the Magnolia neighborhood along the shores of Puget Sound, and you can expect over 11 miles of trails through meadows and forest, eventually winding down to both a north and south beach, with an iconic lighthouse bisecting the two. There's also Seward Park along Lake Washington and a ton of excellent trails perfect for novice and avid trekkers, all steeped in fresh air and breathtaking beauty. Pro-tip, keep an eye out for those sunsets and sunrises!

 

For water-lovers, there's fresh and salt water bodies within the city, providing excellent opportunities for kayaking, paddle-boarding, kayaking, swimming, ferry-riding and boating. Look out for Elliot Bay or Puget Sound for water activities, but these locations are also great for birding. Along these bodies of water, travelers can often find great biking trails, and high above, there can be numerous aerial tours happening at once.
