Myrtle Beach, a city and vacation resort on South Carolina’s Atlantic coast, is the hub of the Grand Strand, a 60-mile string of beaches, and is equally known for its celebrity-designed golf courses. There's absolutely no shortage of excellent outdoor activities for travelers to enjoy, many of which located in the great outdoors, perfect for campers who are looking for an exploration through the natural terrain. Visitors can spend a day at the outdoor Splashes Oceanfront Water Park, Wild Water & Wheels and WonderWorks, an indoor amusement park for the mind, has 100 interactive exhibits for all ages. Along with 1.2 miles of walkable boardwalk, the downtown Myrtle Beach area is home to tons of great shops, restaurants, hotels, rides, attractions, and entertainment. Known as “the heart of Myrtle Beach,” the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk Entertainment District has something for people of all ages to enjoy. Right on the boardwalk, there's a variety of restaurants along the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk Entertainment District. Travelers can stop by classic Myrtle Beach restaurants Peaches Corner, Mammy’s Kitchen, or The Bowery for a blast from the past. Golfing
The city has been called the "Golf Capital of the World" because of the roughly 100 golf courses located there, a record 4.2 million rounds played, and many miniature golf courses. 3.7 million total rounds of golf were played in 2007, and the majority of the area's golf courses are public. And of course, for travelers who prefer public parks, the Myrtle Beach State Park is the way to go. Not only is the park right on the coast, but it also has a number of great local trails for hiking and biking, swimming areas, fishing spots and even opportunities for geocaching and bird-watching.
