Easily Book Campgrounds and RV Parks in Duluth, MN

About Duluth

Duluth RV parks and campgrounds are located in the city and the outskirts, which will probably be your best bet for finding a good spot, as some of the best Minnesota campgrounds are in this part of the state. Duluth is a lakehead town where the St. Louis River pours into Lake Superior, forming the border between Minnesota and Wisconsin, and it’s the gateway to the popular RV destinations and resorts that populate the lakes and forests in the northern part of the state, as well as to the many popular spots along the shores of the greatest of the Great Lakes.

If you wish to explore the area’s natural attractions, make your way south of town, where either side of Spirit Lake and the St. Louis River are bordered by protected natural designations. On the Wisconsin side, there’s Billings Park, the Superior Municipal Forest and estuary. The Minnesota border has even more well-regarded natural attractions in the form of Spirit Mountain and Magney-Snively Natural Areas, and Jay Cooke State Park. Spirit Mountain is known for its summertime mountain camping (a rarity in the mostly-flat, Great Lakes region) and wintertime skiing.

Close to this area is the Lake Superior Zoo and Fairmount Park. Despite being a smaller facility, the zoo is popular because of its natural beauty and attractions like a mini train. If you’ve never rode the mini rails before, you’re in for a treat. For the full-sized rail ride, hit up the North Shore Scenic Railroad, if it’s running.

The Great Lakes Aquarium is in Duluth, as is the Lake Superior Railroad Museum, and there’s even a Children’s Museum here. History buffs should check out the Glensheen Historic Estate, Duluth Depot Museum, and the SS William A. Irvin, which is a decommissioned US Steel ship that’s been turned into a floating museum.
