Easily Book Campgrounds and RV Parks in Shreveport, LA

About Shreveport

Shreveport RV parks and campgrounds are sprinkled around the outskirts of town and continue well outside of the city, into northern Louisiana and eastern Texas. The land here is a mixture of swampy bayou forests and farmable patches intertwined amongst lakes and the Red River, which runs through downtown.

Lots of sites for camping in Louisiana are geared towards water attractions, which is great considering the state’s hot and muggy summertime climate. Northern Louisiana has fantastic catfish and bass fishing, slow-moving water for paddle cruising, and all the jungle critters you can imagine, including gators. Most folks know the Eunice and Lake Charles area of southern Louisiana as quintessential Louisiana swamp camping, but Shreveport has much of the same, or even better, depending on who you ask.

Shreveport casinos are a popular draw, too, even for fans of the outdoors and especially for folks from neighboring states who have restricted gambling freedoms. Big name poker events are a popular way to pass time in Shreveport. Riverboat gambling has also seen an uptick in popularity over the past decade. If you’re looking to try your luck at the tables in Shreveport, you should know that some of the best card sharks in the south call Shreveport home, or at least visit frequently. So, know when to fold ‘em!

Looking for something outdoorsy and close to town, try the Red River National Wildlife Refuge, which has hiking and biking trails, fishing, and more. It’s only a few miles from civilization. A bit further out are Loggy Bayou Wildlife Management Area, Lake Bistineau State Park, and Bodcau State Wildlife Management Area to the north.

If you’re looking for fun while learning something new, Shreveport is a great destination. Check out the Sci-Port: Louisiana Science Center, which features interactive exhibits and an IMAX movie theater. Also, be sure to wander around the Red River District. There are tons of cute boutiques and cafes. Or get a tour of Shreveport from the water in a Red River cruise.
