About Peoria

Peoria RV parks and campgrounds dot the land on either side of the Illinois River and represent a good sampling of different kinds of Midwestern RV accommodations. Something can be found at every price point, and that’s fantastic because the Peoria region has lots to offer those who get the chance to spend time in this part of the country.

Downtown Peoria has a lot to keep visitors entertained, and the city’s natural spots have an inviting and classic feel to them. The George L. Luthy Memorial Botanical Garden is a sensational public space with immaculate design and maintenance. This is where folks like to go to get married or at least take photos of themselves all gussied up and in love. The Peoria Riverfront Museum cleverly combines art, science, and culture into one cohesive experience.

When the weekend rolls around, where do Peoria RV enthusiasts motor off to? Your best bet would be the Brimfield area. Jubilee College State Park is a massive designation of land complete with camp sites, horseback riding trails, large open meadows, and multiple streams for fishing and seasonal hunting. This is classic American camping only a short drive away from the Peoria region. And on the way there, be sure to stop and visit bison at Wildlife Prairie Park.

Further out of town, in Utica, are Starved Rock Nature Preserve and Matthiessen State Park, side by side along the southern bank of the Illinois River. The former was recently voted the number-one attraction in the state of Illinois, and the latter has what many consider to be equally as impressive canyons, waterfalls, and foliage.
