Idaho Campgrounds and RV Parks

Idaho RV parks and campgrounds are plentiful, as thousands of campers make their way to different spots throughout the state throughout the year, but especially during the summertime. Idaho is the adrenaline junkie’s go-to state. Whether you’re looking to do some double black diamond skiing in the winter or hit some class-five whitewater rapids in the summer, Idaho and her RV resorts have got you covered. This is a land of many faces: from the mountains too tall to sustain tree life to gorges teeming with trout and salmon in their shadows, the geographic diversity of the state runs from one extreme to another.

The southern part of Idaho is known for its rich farmland and Famous Potatoes, as the license plates used to say. From the Capital of Boise to Idaho Falls and on into Yellowstone, Interstates 15 and 84 form a welcoming smiley face with countless RV parks and campgrounds throughout the region. Here you’ll find Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve, City of Rocks National Reserve, and the mighty Snake River, which has played a pivotal role in American history and is a bastion of recreation today.

The RV parks in central Idaho are predominantly mountain camps, as the Boise National Forest, Sawtooth National Forest, Salmon – Challis National Forest, and Payette National Forest are all connected, creating a massive alpine area with hardly any human presence. This area is among America’s most remote, making it ideal for folks who are tired of other folks, if you will.

The northern, smokestack section of Idaho isn’t quite as sparsely traversed, and Interstate 90 runs from Missoula to Spokane, past Coeur d’Alene. There are dozens of fantastic RV resorts to choose from within a reasonable drive from natural gems like Lolo National Forest, Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness, and Saint Joe National Forest to the south, and Nez Perce-Clearwater, Kaniksu and Coeur d’Alene National Forests to the north of Highway 90.
