Join us at The Refuge on Roanoke Island where one may take advantage of our 15 spacious nightly rental sites located on the south side, overlooking the water and offering our guests beautiful views. Our sites feature 30 amp and 50 amp electrical services while accommodating vehicles up to 45 foot long. Enjoy our full service bathhouse, coin laundry facilities as well as air conditioned and heated bathrooms where one will find two showers in both restrooms as well as three toilets and a dual vanity in both facilities.

If you are joining us in the summer time be sure to take advantage of our pool overlooking the sound and pavilion area. We ask that you swim at your own risk as there is no lifeguard on duty. You may find lounge chairs stretching the length of the pool for your comfort. Of course, if you are looking for more active water sports you can make your way down the docks where you will see that the canal reaches to the sound for anyone interested in setting out on a kayak or canoe to enjoy the natural scenery of Roanoke Island.

If you're looking for a more passive approach to enjoy this beautiful setting, feel free to sit back and relax for a picnic lunch at our pavilion. This covered shelter and the surrounding picnic tables provide the perfect ample space to enjoy quality time with other travelers while recaping a lovely day spent on the outer banks of North Carolina. We cannot wait to have you join us here at The Refuge on Roanoke Island. Whether its for a night or two, we hope to see you soon!

This place is amazing. The breeze coming across the water made for a perfect stay. The bathhouse was very clean and had a ramp to get to it if you didn’t want to climb stairs. I’m definitely going back.

We love this campground. It is quite except for a little road noise at times. The boathouse is every nice, always clean. We like being able to camp close to the water. Convenient to Manteo and Nags Head.

We truly enjoyed every minute of our stay at The Refuge on Roanoke Island. It was such an escape and beautiful setting, still just minutes from Manteo or the OBX. Having a sound front spot where you can enjoy the breeze, marsh views and fish in the cove just steps from camp was such a treat. The walkways into the marsh were tranquil. The bathhouse was so clean and nice. The waterside pool was amazing. Kathy, the manager was awesome and so welcoming and helpful. We can’t wait to go back. It’s like a hidden treasure.

We absolutely loved spending our week here! The campground is beautiful. The pool is perfect. The views are amazing. It's far enough away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to enjoy all of the area. The campground manager, Kathy, was so helpful and met all of our needs. We definitely recommend!!

We had a nice quiet midweek stay. We received all the campground information that we needed via text before we arrived. The bathhouse was incredibly clean and spacious. We spent most of the daylight hours visiting surrounding attractions so we did not have time to use the campground amenities such as the pool or pavilion.

Nice campground with a beautiful view. Was not happy with no cable for the TV. Especially at night trying to chill out before going to bed. Also, we have a long truck and had a hard time parking in front of our camper and not being in the grass.

This is our 2nd time here; and we really enjoy the peacefulness of this campground. It has a beautiful view with sun reflecting off the lake. The bathhouse is very nice, along with laundry facility (which came in handy both visits), and the nice pool to refresh before dinner. Kathy was extremely responsive and helpful when we had a breaker issue. She even lent us an adapter for our electric. She is so nice and seems to want to make sure that everyone has a positive experience. We will be back with our friends too!!

Great location. Close to lots of things. We enjoyed the view of the lake and the swimming pool. Man, was it hot! Quite a few seasonal but decent sites for short timers.

Nice campground, only 15 transient sites. Grounds needed to be kept up better. Grass was overgrown in transient area for 3 of 5 days we were there.

We have been there several times and spoke with the owner Margaret and this last time the spot that we were promised we could have was given away because they took some permanent campers and put them there in our spots the best spots on the campground. We go there mainly because it's nice to be able to fish right from the back of the camper and the spot that Kathy put us in was nothing but a bunch of marsh weeds no way we could have fished behind our camper without getting stuck in the weeds. Clearly disappointed this last time and won't be going back again.

The Refuge was a wonderful, quiet campground away from the congestion of the Outer Banks yet close enough to beaches, attractions, and our favorite restaurants to get there within 20 minutes. Cathy, the campground hostess, greeted us upon arrival and encouraged us to return when we left. We spent two weeks. Clean bathhouse and well maintained pool area were other important amenities. Permanent campers were very friendly. We will return.

An absolutely beautiful campground. A great location with beautiful views, large and level sites, easy access to everything you need. And Kathy is so sweet with superb hospitality. We highly recommend The Refuge on Roanoke Island to anyone wanting to camp near Manteo, Nags Head, and other areas nearby.
