Steep Rock Preserve

The 998-acre Steep Rock Preserve offers hiking trails which follow the river banks and provide access into the hillsides above. Steep Rock Preserve is not your traditional campground. We offer three remote and primitive campsite sites, two alongside the Shepaug River which require walking approximately .5 mile to the sites: SR1 (wooded lot) and SR2 (open field); and SR3 is in a wooded lot with vehicle access and parking near the campsite. These are primitive sites immersed in nature - no Wi-Fi access, bring your own water, and enjoy the quiet.
