Rio Grande Forest Private Basecamp

Beaver Creek Rd, South Fork, CO, 81154

Escape to our private two-acre sanctuary at the doorstep of the Rio Grande National Forest in South Fork, Colorado. Our beautiful property borders Beaver Creek Road for easy access and backs right up to millions of acres of pristine wilderness. Think of it as your launchpad for epic hikes, wildlife spotting, and off-grid bliss. Perched on an elevated clearing approximately 30 feet above Beaver Creek Road, our boondocking spot is tailor-made for self-reliant adventurers: vans, small trailers, and tents fit snugly with room to breathe. No hookups or amenities here—just pure, unfiltered nature. Camp out on the main campsite and/or pitch a tent just above the rocks with a great view. Wake to birdsong, scramble over dramatic rock outcroppings, and hit the trails seconds from camp. Beaver Mountain Trailhead and Church Creek Trailhead are within walking distance. ATV enthusiasts, rejoice: unload your machines on-site and ride straight into the forest via Beaver Creek Road. Plus, Million Reservoir (great fishing) and Beaver Creek Reservoir are just a few miles away. Ideal for solo wanderers, couples, or small groups (max 8), this is boondocking at its finest—quiet, starry nights, and that rare thrill of private land connected to a national forest. Pack your portable toilet, follow Leave No Trace, and leave restored. Fire bans? We will inform you. And, even though you're in the forest, cell service is fairly reliable here, and you’re only two miles from town. We’ve recently added an access gate and private property signage to make sure you won’t have any unexpected visitors (except for the deer that may wander through the property). The gate access code will be provided before you arrive. Plus, we'll send you a list of resources before your stay to help you with where to eat, places to visit, hikes to take, trash disposal, places to shower, and more... Welcome to your private, forest-edge retreat—where the adventure begins at your bumper.

Welcome to Rio Grande Forest Private Base Camp, a secluded two-acre property bordering the Rio Grande National Forest. After entering through the gate, follow the driveway up to the Main Camp Site, the easiest and most accessible place to set up. For greater privacy and tent camping, hike along the game trail around Split Rock, then continue up the hill to the right to reach the Sunset Tent Site, which is above and behind Split Rock. This route also provides the easiest access to Heaven, a secluded gathering area with excellent views of the Rio Grande Valley - tent camping may also be possible up here if desired. More adventurous guests can quickly reach Heaven by carefully scrambling up the Stairway to Heaven, located just to the right of Cloud Rock, directly uphill from the Main Camp Site. From the Main Camp Site, you can also wander north into a grove of aspens trees within the Rio Grande National Forest. For further exploration, hike the game trail toward the back of the property to the Spruce Sanctuary, a peaceful clearing surrounded by  massive Engelman Spruce trees. Look for the seasonal stream just beyond this clearing and at the tip of the northeastern property line. Guests may also explore the accessible land north of this boundary. Please use the map as your guide, watch your footing on rocky terrain, respect wildlife corridors, and practice Leave No Trace throughout your stay.
