The Raton Pass Camp and Cafe is a campground located north of Raton just off I-25 at the top of Raton Pass, New Mexico. Soak in the panoramic views of the Savage Canyon, home to gambel oak, pinion and ponderosa pine, and while you're sitting outside keep your eyes open for the wildlife that calls Raton Pass home. There are bears, mule deer, elk, wild turkeys and scores of beautiful hummingbirds. Our sites are packed level gravel with scenic large back-ins, pull thrus, extra long pull thrus, and budget friendly small back-ins that support 30/50 amp sites. Our clean manicured property will keep you coming back year after year.

Given our convenient location, visitors can take advantage of nearby attractions such as:

  • Capulin Volcano National Monument
  • Trinidad Lake State Park
  • Sugarite State Park
  • Fisher's Peak State Park

Whether its for a short and or long term stay, we hope to see you soon!

Great place to stay. The views are awesome. Small but nice.

Somewhat confusing when coming from Colorado Spring as there are two exit 460 within a few 100 feet each other at the very top of Raton Pass. Campground owner did prove clarification on exit and you must be in the right hand lane. Campground is all dirt/rock and my site was level. A little dusty coming up the hill but otherwise a good overnight stop. All FHU sites.

We made a quick stop on our way to Albuquerque. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The site was the prefect site for our rig. Make sure to use the directions given by the campground on getting there. Saved us an extra 11 miles!

We reserved a site to stay a few nights on our way back to TX. Rhonda hooked us up with a great back in site, which was up on a small ridge over looking a beautiful mountain view. We were so impressed we immediately reserved 2 extra nites. The staff/service was excellent. The utilities/hook up connections were in great shape. This place is at the top of Raton Pass, so easy access to some beautiful State Parks in both NM and CO. We will be back.

We’re completely self contained, but got full hook ups with 50 amp service and a GREAT view as a bonus at a very reasonable rate. Raton Pass Camp was a lovely and quiet respite from the road. Mike was very nice to work with for making the reservation and getting us set on our site.

We have stayed at this campground multiple times. Everything about this place is 5 stars all the way. The only caveat is that if you want or need cell service and/or internet, it is not good at all. That said, get location, great, large sites. Park is clean is all respects. Good water pressure. Fantastic views of the mountains and wildlife! Last but not least, the staff is awesome! We had some "nightmarish" type of battery issues on our rig and Mike and Rhonda dug right in and helped us get it resolved. Would have been too overwhelmed to tackle it on our own, and given we stayed at their campground right at the beginning of our trip, I have no doubt we would have had serious troubles on our vacation before it hardly started! I can't recommend this campground, its people, and the facilities overall highly enough!
