  • Kansas City is one hour south of Pony Express. Famous for its BBQ and sports teams, the major metropolis is also home to various renowned museums (National WW1 Museum & Memorial, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, to name a few), exciting restaurants, brew pubs and nightlife at KC Live!, as well as many other points of interest.
  • Next in terms of size is the charming city of St.Joseph (St. Joe to the locals) which is 33 miles west of the park is best known as the origination point of our namesake, The Pony Express Route. This uncommonly interesting place boasts more than a dozen museums-- which include Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art and numerous history (Glore Psychiatric Museum, Pony Express National Museum and Black Archives Museum to name a few.) Other points of interest include Bushman Planetarium, Remington Nature Center, Mount Mora Cemetery, many architecturally significant buildings and, last but not least, the Walter Cronkite Memorial. Ask at the office for a current Visitor Guide which has two-for-one admission coupons. In addition, the annual events calendar is packed with concerts, festivals and the KC Chiefs Training Camp. So much to see and do in St. Joe!
  • "Quilt Town USA" aka Hamilton is only 26 miles from the park. Quilters from all over the country flock here to get their fabric fix. And never fear, one of the stores even features a Man Cave!
  • The Amish town of Jamesport is 37 miles away and is a charming place to eat and shop...numerous fine bakeries, restaurants, country stores that sell food in bulk, Amish-made furniture & smaller hand-crafted items, quilting stores and antique stores. You can find it all in Jamesport.

The staff is absolutely wonderful. The park is equally excellent. I would like to see an updated Laundry room, the machines are extremely old. The landscape was pretty and the farm animals were a nice touch. The ponds were beautiful. Loved the cabin on the property. We had a very pleasant stay, I wasn't ready to leave but the Arizona desert was calling us back for the winter.

Excellent campground - peaceful and quite while still having quite a bit of other campers there. The staff was friendly and helpful (when needed) and the atmosphere was one of rest. This is situated outside of Cameron, MO and gave easy access to many other small towns in the area as well as multiple parks, trails, and reservoirs to walk around.

The campground was very peaceful and quiet. We only stayed one night passing through the area. The only concern was the big black walnuts that fell from the trees around us. I guess that it was just that time of year. We would stay there again if ever in the area.

Our paperwork was left outside the office. We never seen anyone in the office while we were there.

Very nice campgrounds. Very quite. Its not close to things but they do have a restaurant there, which we had a pizza and it was very good. Where we were at you could not get any TV channels. They has black walnut trees and if one dropped on your RV you would know it(very loud in the middle of the night). But over all we would stay there again.

Our second time camping here. Very well taken care of. The staff are wonderful. The breakfast was very good and enjoyed my visit with the cook. Next time we travel to North Mo. we will for sure stay there.

The campground is in a beautiful location. Has a two nice fishing ponds. The food at the store is decent. We had breakfast. Made to order. The reason for the 3 stars is because of the sites. The sites are really cram packed. There are a lot of long term residents. The site we chose was a really tight spot. However, the fire pit had not been serviced . There were weeds at least two foot tall all the way around it. We were unable to access the fire pit to use it even after we bought two bundles of wood. The ponds also could have used some groundskeeping. Could barely get to the water. Would probably only stay again if we got one of the top sites away from permanent residents. Needs work.

What a lovely campground! As one drives up the office, it's welcoming at first glance and the office staff mirrors the same accomodating spirit. There were so many places to leisurely walk but along the barnyard and horse corrals were our favorite. What a learning experience for children who can pet the friendly animals! There's a large enclosed fenced yard with a couple of cute goat families, sweet pigs (who touched noses with our little pooch), ponies, cows, sheep, lama,(?) as well as different horses in two corrals. (I'm sure I'm forgetting an animal or two.) A pretty little beach and pier is down along the pond. The RV sites are tiered and quite flat, and reasonably priced. There is a restaurant next to the office, as well as a movie and book exchange. If I understand it correctly, new owners recently took over ownership and have additional improvements in the works. I highly recommend this charming campground and wished we lived closer so we could visit often.

We had a great time there. The campground was quiet, clean, easy to get into and out of, and had a few extras like the lakes, the wildlife, and the petting animals that were fun to watch. We didn't get to use the hiking trails and some of the other features, because we were busy and it rained alot, but we would definitely stay there again. The people were very friendly and there was a nice homey restaurant in the office area and the food was good

We enjoyed our stay at Pony Express RV Park and Campground. Lovely grounds with lake, spacious level sites, nice dog park, fun barnyard with lots of farm animals (although I wish they had chickens :)). The owners were very nice and helpful. We stayed one night in a 38' MH with a toad.

We stayed here one night on Nov. 1. It is six miles north of I-36. The roads in the park are gravel. Some sites are paved and some sites are gravel. We had a paved site that easily accommodated our truck and 20 ft. trailer. After five hours on the road (which is long for us) we called in an order to the Pizzeria on site for a burger, fries and personal size pizza. It was delivered to our site in 20 minutes. What a delight! We would definitely stay here again.

A great place! It has a lot to offer. It’s quite country setting, lakes, hiking trails, farm pets, on site restaurant, and more. Most of all the owner checked us in and escorted us to the site.

Terri is AMAZING!! We broke down and ended up a day late but still wanted to stay 2 days. She was so accommodating. And we are so grateful! What a beautiful and peaceful place to stay and unstress! Our only complaint is that we couldn’t stay longer!

Great place to relax in the country. You have to try the pizza in the cafe too, one of the best I've had!
