The Jackson Hill park & Marina and is a great spot for a fun and adventurous outdoor vacation right by the water. Travelers can look forward to plenty of wide, open spaces, great opportunities for sunset viewing and stargazing. Get ready for excellent fishing for bass, crappie and catfish and bird watching and wildlife viewing; bald eagles, alligators, deer and river otters are common at the marina. Amenities at the park include: 30/50 amp sites, a pavilion, picnic tables and a volleyball court. Hope to see you soon; don't forget your fishing rod!

Cabin was nice and cozy. Marina restaurant had amazing food. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner) The fried fish was our favorite. We will definitely be back soon. The staff at marina was exceptional. Check them out! You won’t be disappointed.

I Rented an RV spot for a week. The park is going through a lot of repairs after storm damage. The work is coming along nicely Has a large boat launch easy in easy out. Nice large showers and everything is spotless and well-kept. There is a very nice, very clean restaurant with home-cooked meals and very reasonable prices. Breakfast is amazing. The staff is amiable and happy to assist in any way. We were made to feel welcome and at home.

We arrived on July 4th, 2024 to stay at the Freedom Lodge Reunion Center (actually just an old trailer house). We checked in and were told by the person behind the counter that the key must be in the door. We found the 3 bedroom, 2 bath trailer to be locked at the front door but unlocked at the back door so we entered there (no key in either door). The three small window units (not enough to adequately cool during the summer months) were off, so we turned them on and waited outside for it to cool off (somewhat). We went back to the marina later that afternoon to get a key and were given a 4-digit code for the door. I told them that there was not keypad on the door, and the young lady said "oh, I don't know, I've never been up there but there is no key here". Although the house is listed as holding around 8 people (and a "Reunion Center"), only two vehicles get a park pass. The rest must pay $5 to get a pass (at least that is just what we were told). We woke the next morning to find ants in the bedroom on our clothes (no food was left out near there). Didn't see the same issue after that morning. We expected some sort of restocking after a night or so but had to go back and ask for more towels (and were asked to bring the used ones in) and there were only two rolls of TP in the whole hose when we arrived. We went and purchased more. All in all, its a fun place right on the lake, but we won't be staying (certainly not in the Freedom Lodge) anymore. It was not stocked with any pans for the oven (at least not that we found) and the handle is missing from the oven door. We wouldn't have used it anyway as I have no idea how hot it would have gotten in the house. Lots of high grass in the area around the house, and several wasps nest near the front porch. The 2 pictures of the inside of the trailer are not recent (linoleum floor has been removed, oven handle is missing) We'd stayed in a small cabin previously. It was nice, but certainly not enough A/C to keep up in the summer either. I understand this is "camping" but I just wanted to give my honest take on our stay so someone else can make an informed decision. Owners seemed like good people, hopefully the updates will continue.

Had a great time as always, other than the my 83 year old mother in law not having her tv to watch. Boys came did there best to fix the situation, said the owner would have to come and put in some code never happened. Had to go up and ask for trash bags, ran out of toilet paper good thing we had our own. Was just very disappointed with the accommodation for the money we paid. 😞

Very disappointed in the pavilion, I paid 120 plus to reserve the pavilion for a graduation party for 50 people. We only had two tables and were told there was no more to put out there. When reserving the pavilion I was told it had water and electricity. Guess what no water , the bathroom was horrible. A big hole in the ground people were afraid to use the restroom in fear of falling in. I had to go find an attendant to help clean the bathroom. He was nice enough to bring us buckets of water for our crawfish boil. The young girl was super nice in the office, but our experience was not great at all .. definitely not worth the money . I will not be renting again or any of our family. I had to keep apologizing to our guess about the condition of the bathroom and pavilion.

We had reservations for a deluxe cabin. The cabin was very basic and not very clean. We were told the kitchen would have everything we needed unless we needed a special pan. This was not true. We were told they had WiFi and Wifi TV. This was not true. Even with the sun shining, WiFi wasn't happening and even when you could get WiFi, Wifi TV was a joke. The area around the cabin was in desperate need of mowing and there was trash on around on the ground. We reserved a boat slip. To access the boat slip from the shore, the ramp had sunk to about knee deep water and you had to hang on to the railing. You could not see where you stepping on the ramp. The power to the boat slips were not working so you could not charge your boat batteries. On a positive note, the staff was very nice and we caught a lot of fish.

All in all great experience. Bridge was broken due to storms but we made it work. The blankets and towels are great! Would like to see more cleaning of the pull out couches, animals sleep on them and they aren't getting cleaned very well, even the sheets weren't charged. The cabins are much nicer. Would like to see move shelves in the cabins like the ones in 19 and 20, they make life much easier. Staff is very nice and food was great! We know this is a big transition and we will be booking for our 16th year very soon.

Great place to stay, food and restaurant is real good, an excellent menu. There was some water problems but they've been all solved with the new well, can't wait to get back up there and stay some more

The water in the park has a lot of Sulphur in the system and it make the whole cabin smell like sewer. It's hard to even take a shower. As far as location it was nice. You are close to town if you need anything. I stayed in Cabin 3 kinda away from the main park, thinking it would be a little quieter. But about 4:45am the traffic started for a tournament check in and it sounded like I was on a interstate. Not good at all. The outside of the cabins could use some pest control. The spider webs are really bad. I understand a few but this was more than a few.

Campground Response

Hi Jeff, we do apologize for the water. We have just recently had a new well drilled and piped into the system this week. The water no longer has the Sulphur smell in it. The water is clear and smells great now. As far as the pests, we do try to keep up with spraying and keeping up with pest control. With all of the repairs that we have had to get done, I will agree our pest control has fell a little to the waste side. Thank you for your review and bringing this to our attention. We will be sure to get back on to the pest control. We hope to see you again soon! Since we have taken over in November, we have made huge strides in updating, cleaning up, and repairing the park and we will continue to push forward so that our guests continue to have a wonderful stay and connect with nature. Thank you for visiting us.

As always the staff is outstanding and very hospitable. The quality of food is never a disappointment at the diner. I highly recommend their homemade biscuits and gravy for breakfast and fried fish for lunch/dinner. Everything I have eaten here taste like it came straight out of my grandmas kitchen. They also have karaoke on the weekends which is very entertaining to watch. We have stayed here multiple times and have never have had an issue. As much as I would like to give 5 stars this stay wasn't as great as the many others. I wish to have known that the room I was renting this past stay, which was at the same price as the previous room I have stayed in, was significantly smaller. As well, I wish I would have been informed that the quality of water was compromised due to maintenance of a new water well. Even though the water was considered "Safe", the smell was horrific to the point we could not bare to shower or even wash our hands in it. We had to use our gallon drinking jugs, we purchased to use in drinks, to sponge clean and wash our hands in. I, however, do look forward to staying at Jackson Hill Marina again in the future. They are truly great people and I know they will do their very best to make sure this won't happen again. I highly recommend Jackson Hill Marina.

Campground Response

Hi Ashli, Thank you for your review. We greatly apologize for the inconvenience of the water. We now have a new well that was just piped into the system today that is clear and smells great. We look forward to seeing you again soon!! :)
