Hattie has a history.  The Hattie Sherwood Campground is part of Hattie Sherwood Park, a beautiful multi-acre park that was deeded to the city in the 1920's as an honorarium to Hattie Sherwood Kutchin, the granddaughter of John Sherwood, one of the founding settlers of Dartford in the 1840's.  The terms of the deed contained specific instructions about making sure the campground stayed as close to its original footprint as possible including all of the trees and other plantings at the time of the donation.  Campers today will get a flavor of the beauty of old Green Lake amongst the soaring hardwood canopy, the views of the pond, the spectacular and vast array of birds and waterfowl and the lovely vistas of Big Green Lake.  The campground features 37 sites, some assigned for camping only and others set to accept large motorhomes up to 42 feet.  All sites have either 20, 30 or 50 amps of electrical available.  Fully renovated bathrooms with showers are available on site.

Hattie Sherwood Campground includes amenities such as . This campground is located on 451 S Lawson Drive in Green Lake, WI and is open May 1 - Oct 15.

We were very disappointed when we got to the campground. We had reserved a "premier" site for our 33 foot fifth wheel, with a pull through. There was no way we were able to get in the site. We called the number on the reservation and the guy told us "good luck". We ended up driving home. It would be nice to get our money back. Not sure what their definition of "premier" is but the site was so small and there was no direct way to pull in. If I could make the review a negative I would.

Campground Response

Hi Amy, we apologize for your negative experience, and wish you would have reached out to us personally during your experience, for if we had known you had continued to struggle we would have been more than happy to help you out. I am personally the one who took your phone call and I am sad that you chose to take “good luck” which most certainly came at the end of a 5 minute phone call, out of context. I regret that you were not able to get your 33 ft 5th wheel into the pull through site,17. I have seen many 40+ ft rigs fit in there, and if I had been on site the exact moment you had called, I would have been more than happy to assist you in any way I could. After giving you a few tips, I never heard back from you, and I regret that you did not call back to notify me of your continued struggles. Again, we apologize for this experience, and can certainly offer you a refund.

Immaculate bathhouses, generous, litter, free sites, new picnic tables, and a great view of the lake. The showers could use some hooks for towels and clothing and maybe. a medical type shower seat in the shower area to put your kit on.

Campground Response

Thank you Bob for the awesome suggestions about the showers. We will add those items to the off season update list. We appreciate you being our guest and are so awfully glad you enjoyed the great vistas of the beautiful, shimmering waters of Green Lake. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

We always enjoy staying at Hattie Sherwood. They’ve made a lot of changes with the landscape and tree clearing. I look forward to seeing more updates in the future.

Campground Response

Thank you so much Lori for being a long, long time Camp Hattie guest. Yes, losing all the dead ash trees was terrible but it has given us an opportunity to be the good stewards of this beautiful property we are supposed to be and make sure the hardwoods keep growing and those hardwoods allow for others to grow as well. Stay tuned for more off season updates. If you have suggestions we sure would love to hear them! Thank you.

The fact that this campground is very cramped is far outweighed by its amazing location right on Green Lake with all its boating opportunities.

Campground Response

Paul, we sure appreciate your great feedback. Yes, Camp Hattie is designed so all guests can enjoy the stunning views amidst the hilly landscape. It is such a beautiful spot and we are so glad you were our guest. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

As we've been coming to Hattie Sherwood for Labor Day weekend for the past 5 years now, the modifications or "clean up" came as a big surprise for sure. We choose the lots 36, 37, and 38 as they provided a little seclusion from the rest of the campsite. Well...that's not there anymore. Other than that, we had a good time nonetheless.

Campground Response

Thank you Chuck for noticing the "clean up" efforts that have begun at Camp Hattie. Thus far over 54 dead trees (yes we are very sad) were taken out as they created very dangerous hazards. You probably also noticed there's 11 new hardwood trees that have been planted along with some very quick growing tall native shrubs to replace that "seclusion" you speak of. More efforts are underway after the season ends and hopefully the new will start to fill in so when you return you can have your private waterfront hideaway!!!

No water hookups, the spots on the hill are hard to get level on. I enjoyed the park, very beautiful, lots of wildlife. Restrooms and showers are clean . Firewood for sale.

Campground Response

Thank you Timothy for taking the time to let us know about your stay. We apologize you had challenges getting your vehicle leveled. Hope the final spot you had was great. You were in the perfect location for max viewing of the lake and all that goes along with it. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back. We will keep you posted on water hookups and as an FYI, more leveling work will happen after the season ends!!!

Very nice little campsite. Love the fact it is right across the road from lake, so the breeze was nice. Would go back again

Nice camping area for tent camping. Beautiful Lake. Clean bathrooms.

Campground Response

Thank you so much Jeffrey. We agree that the tent camping is stellar. You sure cannot find a prettier sight to wake up to each day!!! Green Lake is a very beautiful lake; those before us called it Daychola and revered it. It truly is a treasure! Thank you for visiting. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

So my family has camped more than most in an RV as I would tow it to a job-site and bring my family over the last 15 years. Kids got older and jobs changed. My oldest daughter wanted to go to the airshow and Hattie Sherwood Campground was the perfect spot to camp. So for the 1st time in 23 years we pitched a tent. I made a reservation several days in advance and called the day of to make sure we could come in late after the fireworks. The individual that answered was very helpful and accommodating. It was a beautiful site with great views. Very quiet and clean bathrooms. We really enjoyed our brief stay. Can't wait to go back...

Campground Response

WE are so glad you discovered Camp Hattie and look forward to your return. It truly does have great views and allows you to let all the daily noise go and just relax. Thank you Kyle!!

Very nice campground. Clea bathrooms. A little cramp on sites, and uneven. Nice launch for small water crafts.

Campground Response

Thank you so much Thomas for taking the time to offer your impressions about Camp Hattie. It is just a gem with a view that cannot be beat. Sites are close but what a great way to make new and lasting friendships!!! We are still working on the leveling challenges and will resume efforts in earnest starting in September. Fingers crossed the weather will cooperate. Next time you return we'll have the boat launch ready and waiting for your next adventure. Stay safe!!!!

We were not able to fit our 15' camper onto the site. The site was too small and too elevated to level it out. We could not find anyone to talk to, so we just left. I was very disappointed and out the money for the site. I would not try to stay there again.

Campground Response

It is awfully disappointing you were not able to make contact with anyone. The phone number is posted in numerous places throughout the grounds and Camp Hattie's manager Quin is always available to assist at any time and happy to do so. It is unfortunate you had challenges in getting your 15' camper on the site chosen; it is a great site, very long, deep and wide. It is possible you could have been moved to a site more to your liking had contact been made with management. We are sorry this happened and sorry to hear you won't return.

Very clean campground. We tent camped and had spot 34 which was perfect view of the inlet. We had a great time and will be back!!

Campground Response

Karen, thank you for having such a great experience at Camp Hattie. We are glad you have a perfect spot of the pond. It sure is a peaceful setting...it makes you feel like you've stepped back in time but only a few yards away from it all!!! We will look forward to welcoming you back!! Thank you for being our guest.

wonderful little gem of a campground with a great host - extremely clean

Campground Response

Laura, thank you so much for staying. We are very appreciative of all of our guests, especially those who notice what a sparkly gem Camp Hattie is. With the most amazing views and the set back you kind of feel like you're hiding in plain sight!!! Glad Quin took such good care of you. He is just awesome. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Thank you!!!!

nice little campground. improvements on the sites are much better. A little muddy but that was due to so much rain. Will be coming back

Campground Response

We LOVE our campers! Thank you Jean for being one of them. And, thank you for noticing how busy the city has been doing improvements at Camp Hattie. They will continue. If you have any thoughts on what you'd like to see we sure would appreciate your input. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Best campground in Green Lake! The views are amazing. I would give it a 5 if the sites were somewhat level...

Campground Response

Mark, thank you so much for your kind words about Camp Hattie. The views ARE simply stunning and staying at Camp Hattie is such an awesome way to spoil yourself, family and close friends. The work at getting the sites leveled better will continue. Hopefully for your next visit the site will be as flat as a pancake! Thank you for being our guest. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

We really enjoyed our stay, awesome setting with lake right down the hill. The only negative is the women's restroom/shower could use some TLC and cleaning. Staff was super.

Campground Response

Thank you so much Ruth for being our guest. It is great you were able to relax, unwind and truly appreciate Green Lake's most amazing views and beauty. Hope you had a chance to walk across to the beach and jump in. The water is awfully refreshing!!! We are glad Quin took great care of you. He really prides himself on offering top-notch hospitality. Thank you for letting us know about the shower...we will get it looking spiffy for your return visit!

We have been coming to the campground for 25 years. This was the first time I was disappointed. So many trees have been cut down taking away the wooded feel and privacy. The price has increased significantly yet the grounds were not mowed and in the women's bathroom only one shower worked properly. The electric has been updated but now you only have one outlet for a camper to plug in on the pole, the regular power cord outlets have been eliminated. I have always loved camping at Hattie Sherwood and love it's close proximity to the town of Green Lake. Hopefully things will improve over time.

Campground Response

Megan we are very sorry you were disappointed by the removal of the very scary dead ash trees. The emerald ash borer that has sadly made its way east to west across the US discovered the trove of beautiful tress at Camp Hattie and went to town. There's a lot of great info on line about the dangerous situations the tree damage creates; our first priority is the well being and safety of our campers. Good news, this spring 11 new hardwood trees were planted and more coming as funds allow. The electric has been updated and it appears more work is needed. We are sorry for the inconvenience. There are currently spots in the park that the ground is still too mucky to roll a tractor through. Hopefully over the next couple of weeks things will continue to dry a bit. We appreciate the feedback and look forward to seeing you again soon. Thank you!!

We have stayed at this campground about 5-6 times. It is always neat. There is always someone you can contact for assistance. The best part is that it is close enought to the Town of Green Lake to walk right into town or the other direction to a great supper club, Nortons.

Campground Response

Susan, Norton's is an institution and a must dine for amazing views of Green Lake and has such a great ambiance and you are very correct...it is a short walk to and from the campground. We are awfully glad you returned again and happy to hear you had a great experience. We will look forward to saying hello again soon. In the meantime, happy trails!!

Had a great time. Quinn was excellent to work with. Great view. Sites could be more even and bigger.

Campground Response

Thank you Barb! Quin is just great and we feel awfully lucky to have him on the City of Green Lake team. We are glad you enjoyed the most amazing views of pretty Green Lake. Thank you for your input on the site sizes and letting us know they need some more attention. How our Camp Hattie guests feel about the camp sites is very important to us so we appreciate the feedback!! Happy Trails...see you again soon.
