This wilderness campground 25 miles from Durango, Colorado has been sometimes referred to as "Colorado's Best Kept Secret" and neighbors the Weminuche Wilderness, and borders 1800 feet of lake and river frontage. Travelers can look forward to wildlife viewing, so when you go, keep an eye out for beaver, river otter, deer, turkey, raccoons, bear, chipmunks, ground squirrels, rabbits, marmots and other mammals. There's also plenty of opportunities for birding and fishing for large rainbow and brown trout, kokanee salmon and northern pike. Facilities include 9 park models, as well as RV sites and tent sites with some located in the woods and others right on the river. Amenities at the park include: sewerage, showers, electricity, library, outdoor meeting area, laundry facilities and a fish cleaning station.
