Welcome to Ekstroms’!

We are located just a two minute drive off I-90, but in those two minutes the sounds of cars are replaced by the rustling of ponderosas and the water of Rock Creek that is just a minute's walk from your campsite and home to world-renowned fly fishing.

Ekstrom’s Stage Station is a collection of historic log buildings reassembled along Rock Creek that function as a campground today. The sites are situated in a large grassy meadow surrounded by tall pine trees and are quaint and quiet, comfortably accommodating RV’s up to 55′ in length. (Please call ahead regarding availability for larger RV’s.) In addition to the happy campground, we have two lovely tiny houses, a pair of rustic cabins, and a hundred year old schoolhouse available for your stay.

We offer all the essentials for a comfortable camping experience— restrooms, hot showers, Wi-Fi, electric hookups, and laundry available onsite—in a rustic, laid-back environment. Whether you’re just passing through for a night or looking for a peaceful spot to stay for a while, we hope to see you soon!

RV Sites

None of the A-Loop sites include fire rings. Nor does B1, B2, B3, or B4. Pay careful attention to max lengths, back-in vs. pull-thru, full hookups vs. water & electric only, etc. There is lots of variation from site to site. All RV sites include use of the dump station.

Cabins

School House

A very simple accommodation inside an historic one room school house from the turn of the last century. Electricity. No running water and therefore no interior bathrooms. Customers use the common bath house that is available to all campers approximately 150 yards away.

Rules

Specific Site Not Guaranteed

For all RV Sites and Car Camping and Tent Sites, you are not guaranteed your selected site. We reserve the right to reassign you to a comparable site to better accommodate our long term guests. For example, if you have reserved an RV 50 Amp site, you may be reassigned to a different RV 50 Amp site. Thanks for your understanding.

Areas Closed for Restoration

The area between the irrigation ditch (just behind the bath house) and the floodplain is closed for restoration.

Quiet Hours

Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM for all sites.

Check In/Out Times

Please plan to check out by noon each day for all sites. Check-in is anytime after 3:00 PM for cabins and tiny houses. Check-in is anytime after 1:00 PM for all other sites. If you want to check in early, please call us at 406-825-3183 and we will try to accommodate.

Special Discounts

Rather than provide discounts for one group or another, we have provided early bird pricing before March 1st of 15% discount. This discount is applicable to only to reservations made through the RoverPass site and for a minimum of 2 nights.

Vehicles

Each campsite and cabin includes parking for ONE motor vehicle. Each additional motor vehicle will be charged $5 per night and will need to park in visitor parking area. There is an exception of a vehicle being towed behind a motorhome and parked in the RV 50 amp or 30 amp sites.

Pet Restrictions

WE HAVE ELIMINATED THE PET FEE FOR THE 2025 SEASON! Friendly dogs/cats only (no aggressive breeds or guard dogs.) 2 pets max per campsite. All pets must be kept on leash. Pick up after your pet. Pets cannot be left onsite alone. No dogs in cabins or tiny houses (please call if you have a service dog.) Pet waste bags located by bath house.

Area Tips

Ekstrom's Campground is located adjacent to Rock Creek just upstream of the confluence with the Clark Fork River. As noted by the Rock Creek Protective Association, "There are several Rock Creeks in Montana. However, our Rock Creek is the only one that has been designated a Blue Ribbon trout stream, boasts two world famous herds of Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, and brings hunters, anglers and recreationists from all over the country every year to enjoy its natural abundance. That certainly sets it apart from the rest." There are over 50 miles of Rock Creek upstream of the campground to explore.

The Rock Creek Mercantile is located next door and has all of your needed fishing and camping supplies.

Nearby attractions include the Kettlehouse Ampitheater, a great outdoor venue for live music, white water rafting in the Alberton Gorge, dining in Missoula, sapphire hunting at Gem Mountain near Philipsburg, and so much more.
