Love the campsites and appreciated caretaker stopping in. Was a Veterans weekend and will look to going back next year. Only issue that needs to be followed up with is th bathroom at the beach needed to be seriously cleaned. Not sure who does that but would put that on a list! Otherwise campground horseshoe puts etc in great shape.

Best little gem in the area!!!

The campground was very nice, except the bathrooms. Only one shower for male and one for female and they weren’t very clean. The others were vault toilets and not many of those either.

We know it is hard to find staff, especially for parks and recreation; however, the grounds and buildings at Clausen have really declined over the past few years. None of the trails were trimmed. Steps had vegetation growing over them. Many people made their own trails beside the steps instead. Weeds were over growing many tent sites making it difficult to tent in most spaces. The playground equipment needs maintenance. There are bolts missing from some pieces that could cause harm to children and there are weeds everywhere. The bath houses need lots of work. They are not good at all. Maybe an idea would be to get together a volunteer committee?? I'm not sure, but we won't be back until some changes are made.

Bought the Wi-Fi which says it is good for Up to 5 devices. Only worked on the phone it was purchased on as there was never a code/voucher number sent to use on other devices.

Nicely taken care of little hidden gem just outside valley city!! Unfortunately to many dogs allowed on campsites ,one site had six unleashed dogs that barked and chased other campers when trying to bike or walk past!! Another had 3 unleashed in the beach sand area that pooped and peed all over the place !!! Not cool people , not a pleasant experience due to pets not being leashed!!!☹️😬

Great Camp Site, had a really fun time!

Camp site was very nice and well maintained. The trail around the lake had not been maintained. One on the primary reasons we like to camp at Clausen is the lake and the trail. It would only take a couple guys with a mower and weed wacker to get it ready to go.

Campground Response

Katie thank you for the review the trail around the lake is part of the North Country Trail and is not maintained by BCP. Unfortunately the trail in this area has been abandoned by the group. There are contacts for the NCT they do have equipment just havnt been out to mow in years.

Awesome campsites. Easy to back in and level. The swimming area is in need of cleaning up and there are leeches present. They are very small but hungry. The kayak launch is perfect!!!

We always enjoy this peaceful place. If you can get number 12 during the week you will have very few neighbors, if any, and the sound of the stream 24/7! The grounds keepers are so helpful and courteous as well.

A truly beautiful place to camp. We will be back to camp again next year. Our only issue was a neighboring campsite did not contain their dogs. Our dogs were contained and did not appreciate the other dogs coming into their area.

What a beautiful, peaceful campground. Only issue is it would be helpful if the trails were maintained better. A lot of weeds made for a very skinny trail

Love this best kept secret campground. I have come here about a half dozen times over the years and never disappointed. Campground is immaculate, campsites are generous in size and you get both sun and shade. The creek that runs through the main sites is such a nice ambiance and adds to its total charm. Shower house with nice warm water. You can order your wood ahead of time and it’s already waiting for you. Love this place and will be a favorite always. Campground maintenance supervisor is top notch and extremely accommodating. Kayaking on the reservoir was fabulous. The beach is spectacular and always well groomed and maintained.

Quiet hidden gem. We loved our campsite. Love being next to the stream and being nested in the trees.
