The City of Rocks State Park gets its name from the incredible volcanic rock formations found here. The park is a mile from the scenic Chihuahuan Desert Region of southwest New Mexico, and stands at an elevation of 5,200 feet. The geological formation is made up of large, sculpted rock columns and pinnacles rising as high as 40 feet, and separated by paths or lanes resembling streets. After years of natural erosion, the formations have an almost other-worldly appearance, filling the landscape like towers against the beautiful New Mexico sky.
Located near the city of Deming, the City of Rocks offers camping sites among excellent mountain biking, hiking and bird watchign opportunities. You can also go stargazing in the picnic areas or the desert botanical garden. Look forward to hot showers, restrooms, tent sites and partial RV hookups. We can't wait for you to adventure with us at this park!
