Boulder County Fairgrounds

If you're looking for last minute or weekend camping, it can be very hard to find during the spring/summer in the Boulder area. We found the Boulder County Fairgrounds campground in Longmont worked out as a good stop-gap for our weekend needs when we had to extend a recent stay. During the winter months (until May 1) the campgrounds do not offer water or sewer hookups as they blow the lines to keep things from freezing and breaking over the winter. Dry camping with or without electric is available year round however ($15 and $20 respectively). Spaces are small and close but we found we were able to comfortably park our class A and jeep in the pull through space we were assigned. Pull throughs are gravel with no grass or trees between. If you have a 5er, TT, popup or tent, spaces are back in and do have a bit of tree cover and some grassy areas. This is a VERY small campground with just 8-10 pull through spots and probably another 3 dozen others. Shopping is very close by (2 blocks over) in the form of a Super Target and a Home Depot. Banks, fast and sit down eateries, etc. are also on that same road. Easy access to Boulder via the Diagonal Highway. Bonus: Saturday's there is a local Farmer's Market at the Fairgrounds. Do yourself a favor and do NOT eat before you go. There is plentiful local food both fresh and freshly being prepared, seating and often live local music. Crafts are also available and a knife/blade sharpener was on site the weekends we stayed.
