We loved every minute of our time at Black Bear Mountain Campground. It was roomy and quiet. In most spots you are under trees. It truly is beautiful and cozy. We will definitely be going back there when we visit New River Gorge.

Lovely setting, close to attractions, easy to maneuver throughout, management is very friendly and accommodating! We had full hookup, so we can’t comment on bathhouse but it appears to be very well kept! We would definitely return on our next stay in the area!

It was a wonderful stay over Labor Day Weekend. The location was great - easy access into town and plenty of beautiful scenery close by. The staff was all super friendly, and answered all our questions, the campground was well kept and very clean, and the facilities were very clean (main building and bathhouse). 10/10 would recommend camping here!

RV Site and camp area were well-maintained and beautiful! The staff was absolutely wonderful and even worked with us on a late checkout due to an event we were attending. Woodsy nature-filled surroundings with a nice little playground for kids. We will definitely book again when we are in the area.

Beautiful campground nestled in the woods near Canyon Rim Visitor Center for New River Gorge Ntl Prk. Not many bells and whistles, but it does have semi-secluded RV sites with full hookups (some still with electric and water only), very secluded tent sites, several small cabins, some larger unique cabins, a few small playgrounds, a nice dumpsite with a few extra tools you may need, a nice camp store, and helpful staff. This campground was taken over by new management a few years back and they have been putting a lot of work into it. It shows! This is exactly the kind of place we like to stay with our Class A RV. Highly recommend the sites up on the hill as opposed to the 3 sites near the camp store.

We enjoyed our stay at Bear Country. Loved feeling of being in woods. Gravel lot could have been leveled out just a little more to alleviate sitting outside at slope. We were at site 25 and loved it being last one of that side. Checking in the lady was very nice and helpful. Very clean and nice grounds. We would stay here again. Thanks for a great get away.

We were the only ones in our section, so it was very private during the week. Sites were pretty large and mostly shaded. It was quiet also, even though it was close to the highway. Would stay there again.

Wonderful! Great options for a big group that likes camping at different levels of comfort from tenting to cabining to trailoring. I stayed on a tent site. Loved the ample square footage, enough to fit two large tents if needed. We had a large tent, a fly tent, and space for everyone to gather in the evening for campfire and s’mores (everyone was 14 people) Showers and bathrooms were lovely. Clean and always well stocked. Hot water aplenty. The staff was great. Would highly recommend for anyone planning a visit to New River Gorge National Park or any of the state historic sites and parks in the area.

Excellent experience! Friendly and efficient associate at check-in; Overall campground was clean and well maintained (including the restroom/shower facility). Our electric/water site was in shade for almost the entire day; Site was nice and level. Really enjoyed the bird-song in the morning AND a hoot owl each evening.
